Overview
In-house Workshop-Lab
Arsenal Repertory
The workshop-lab will be a hands-on teaching of dance movement language devices used in previous choreographic and dramaturgic repertory by Gabriela Zuarez’s Sur Mundo Ensemble, engaging with the constructive sources of tango in cross-cultural new contemporary dance theatre.
Throughout the three days, dance participants will experience fragmented parts of the repertory, entering into the hybrid dance language of the ensemble. Warm-up routines and techniques will be offered as an introduction to the practice. The 2024 workshop-lab series aims to continue the development of Gabriela Zuarez’s dance language into the ensemble involving the dancer’s participation in the re-enactment of repertory and creative endeavor.
This in-house workshop-lab practice is planned as a 3-day activity (one online meeting and 2 on-site practices), full-time modality in the week of 21 t/m 23 November in Amsterdam. The first introductory meeting to be held online before the workshop-lab starts. Limited places. The practice might accomplish an short showing, under agreement with the dance leader, on the 4 December at Podium Mozaiek Theatre Amsterdam for the Club Bohemia program.
The participation in the open stage is optional and not a condition of the workshop-lab. The participation in the open stage will mean two additional rehearsals, for which the participating dancer must be available, will be held in Amsterdam on the weekend of 1-2-3 December.
