Trainees with Sur Mundo Ensemble
The dance leader offers a Traineeship of +/- 24 hours per week. Slots to be agreed upon by the 26 October till 8 December, a schooling/ learning trajectory within a company residential project as a first trial. In a later step, under evaluation and agreement of both parties, there is a possibility to continue in an internship format from January to July 2025. This trainee-ship focuses primarily on dancers in education in The Netherlands, Belgium and it extends to international applicants.
What the trainee-ship involves
-Learning training, performance research and development together with the ensemble for the educative residency.
-Experience in researching, composing and performing in the making language of the cross-cultural group Sur Mundo Ensemble.
-The possibility of being promoted to the internship for the production spring-summer 2025.
-The trainee period cost 26 October till 8 December is covered by the organization.
-The internship period during the posterior creative residency and production 2025 is entered by the guidelines of the Dutch Collective Labor Agreement for Dance & Theater.

Trainee Profile
BA/MA dance student in the last year of (dance BA or MA) modern/contemporary dance/ theatre dance/choreography
BA/MA dance educator student in the last year of (dance BA or MA). Interest or experience with Tango/ European folklore/ballroom background or social dances.
BA/MA theatre students with an affinity for contemporary theatre or choreography are eligible to apply for these Trainees & Internships.
Interest or experience with Tango/ European folklore/ballroom background or social dances is crucial.
Qualities
Knowledge of teaching and choreographic methods or schools. Self-sufficient and pro-active
Able to improvise in a creative process
Affinity with cross-culturalism in the arts. Interest in Hispanoamerican and Latinoamerican culture
Social engagement
Open to work on an interdisciplinary proposal with site-specific, live music and media
Open to collaborate within an eclectic, inclusive team of all ages, dance backgrounds and cultures
Costs for participation
The organization covers the costs of the selected candidate’s trainee-ship: learning trajectory, fees and all that means).
Attention! Candidates’ personal expenses/travel and accommodation costs are not covered. However, dance candidates will be helped and supported but not financially covered for the period of the trainee-ship. Please, give serious consideration to this last point before entering your application.
